Friday Five - February 25th

So last week I didn't release a Friday Five. I had gotten some personal news that disrupted my day causing the blog to completely skip my memory. Life happens and not everything will always go according to plan. While I am sad I didn't get it done, I am not going to spend much time worrying about it. There will be many Fridays in my future and I will have plenty of weeks to continue this practice.


So this week's Friday Five is about self love. Five ways you can be kind to yourself.


1. Forgive yourself. Often we will do something we didn't mean to, or forget something we should have done. Many people will get in a cycle of beating themselves over such things. Yes, holding yourself accountable is good, but forgiveness when you mess up is also important.


2. Physical health. These past years during the pandemic, many people have been aware of their health, but many others have ignored it. What have you done to hep take care of your physical health? Are you doing a health physical every year? Are you up to date on immunizations? (Covid is the conversation of the day, but when did you get your last TDAP?). Take time to be responsible for yourself.


3. Mental health. Are you balancing your life to have time to think and focus? Can you take some time to focus on your mental health? Often having time to focus each day, and having time to just not do anything can improve mental health.


4. Exercise. This does not have to be high intensity workout. But moving your body and making sure you stretch as appropriate purposefully every day will tend to improve your physical and mental health.


5. Diet. I don't mean starving yourself. This is about making sure you are getting your appropriate vitamins and minerals in your diet. Some people use supplements, some work on eating a variety of foods. While methods differ, getting your vitamins and minerals as well as an appropriate amount of water is important to take care of yourself.
